Prices of Tablet PCs

More than 10 prominent companies manufacture Tablet PCs. Every year, almost all of them release a newer model or upgrades for software and hardware. Naturally, the marketplace is absolutely full of Tablets with prices ranging from $500 - $4000. Selecting a cheap tablet pc to meet your requirement, especially with a budget in mind can be totally mind boggling.

As with any other machine, pricing for a cheap tablet pc is dictated by its features. Here are some of the most important aspects that determine prices.

STYLE - Slate, Convertible & Hybrid are the three available styles. Slate is a simple Tablet with a fully stylus incorporated LCD. Convertibles have an incorporated keyboard and an LCD that can rotate 180 degrees. Hybrids are a cross of both, the keyboard in this style is detachable. SPEED - The speed of any computer is determined by three factors; Processor, RAM and Cache. A medium speed Tablet PC would have a 1.8 GHz Processor, 2GB DDR Ram and 1MB Cache Memory. The higher end Tablets have 3.2 GHz Processor, up to 5GB RAM and 3MB L2 Cache. MULTIMEDIA & DISPLAY - Audio/Video devices are not expensive in any computer, so the real factor here is the LED. The LED ranges in size from 8.0" to 13.3". The bigger the LED screen the bigger the price. HARD DRIVE - SATA drives between 80GB to 320GB are incorporated. Mostly the size of the drive is optional so you can alter it according to your requirement or funds. BATTERY - You can get anywhere between 3 to 9 hours on the type of battery you select. The longer the battery life the higher the cost of the battery. If you want a cheap Tablet PC you should go for one with low battery life. CONNECTIVITY - Wireless Internet adapters and Ethernet adapters come as a necessary part of the Tablet PC. However, Fax Modems and Bluetooth are optional with most. You can save a little bit if you choose not to have Bluetooth and a Fax Modem in your Tablet. OTHER FEATURES - The Tablet PC can be turned into a dream machine. Some of the other available options to be integrated into your machine are; Optical drives, Docking Port, Smart Card Reader, Finger Print Reader, Webcam and Integrated Microphone and the list goes on.

So while the cheapest tablet may be a handy addition to your range of gadgets, paying a little more means you can have a machine that you can use for a wide range of applications.
